Asgard had fallen to Earth, and Odin had died. In order to restore Asgard to the other realm, Loki manipulated Norman Osborn into attacking it, whilst simultaneously manipulating the Avengers by taking the form of Scarlet Witch. He also had his name erased from the book of Hel. When the Sentry went mad and became his dark side, the Void, Loki apparently had a change of heart and tried to help the heroes. He was instead killed by the Sentry. (See: Mighty Avengers, Siege.)

Thor, missing Loki, went looking for his reincarnated brother, having realised he wasn't actually dead. He found him in France with amnesia, although also with nightmares of some of the acts he'd committed in his previous incarnation. Thor convinced Loki to touch Mjolnir, which turned him back into a much younger Loki, presumably with his earliest memories as he recognised Thor enough to tell him he'd got old. Back in Asgardia, Kid Loki found a full copy of his older self's memories and turned them into a raven called Ikol, an advisor he believed he controlled. Then he saved the world a couple of times working for the new rulers of Asgard, the All-Mother (Freyja, Idunn and Gaea), made friends with Leah the handmaiden of Hela, and generally made a very good start on being not-evil. Unfortunately, everything from his death onwards had been yet another of Loki's schemes, and events had been manipulated in such a way that the only way to stop Mephisto taking over the throne of Hell was for Kid Loki to erase himself and let Ikol take over, essentially letting the old Loki start again with a cleaner reputation. Kid Loki, allowed three conversations before non-existence, first he had Leah sent back to the beginning of time so Ikol couldn't hurt her when he took over, asked Thor to kill him, and asked a god-eater to eat him. The latter two refused, and the copy of the old Loki moved in, damning himself in the process. It's also revealed Hela isn't actually Loki's daughter. She's the future self of the Leah sent back in time.(Thor 615+, Mighty Thor 1-22, Journey into Mystery 622-645)

Having taken over from his younger self, the newest Loki set up a massive gambit that revolved around gathering together a new incarnation of the Young Avengers in order to steal the powers of Billy Kaplan (Wiccan), a powerful reality warper. Loki manipulated Wiccan into summoning a powerful entity from between the dimensions, knowing that in order to defeat it Wiccan would have to call on powers he hadn't used before, potentially re-writing the universe in the process; Loki hoped to be able to wrest control of the change from Wiccan and steer it to his own ends. To do this, Loki pretended to try and stop Billy from summoning Mother, but simultaneously manipulated America Chavez into turning up in time to stop him. Mother summoned, and more powerful than Loki apparently expected, Loki went on the run with the Young Avengers to train Wiccan. Unfortunately for Loki, becoming his younger self had had unforeseen circumstances; limited access to his own magic and something of the younger Loki's personality appeared to have stayed behind. Trying to regain his magic, Loki manipulated Wiccan into restoring him to an older form to defeat Mother, but it failed. Loki's magic and guilt manifested themselves as physical people (amongst them Leah) and the ghost of Kid Loki, and it wasn't until Loki admitted to the other Young Avengers that a) he'd killed his younger self and b) the whole thing had been a scheme that he regained access to his magic, in the process helping Wiccan defeat the thing they were running from. Then he secretly threw them a party and left, before they could forgive him. (Marvel Now Point One, Young Avengers 2013 1-15)

Working for the All-Mother(s), Loki undergoes a number of missions, his payment for each the erasure of one of the many sins of his past self. His first mission is to retrieve the sword Gram, left in trust by Odin for Loki should he ever be worthy of it. Then he has to stab his brother Thor with it, as Gram shows people the truth about themselves and Thor refuses to accept he is under some kind of influence making him a petty bully and unworthy of Mjolnir. During the mission, he also erases all of the Avengers' files on the old Loki. Loki gives the jar he has captured the evil influence in to the All-Mothers, although he is clearly uneasy about it; after he leaves, the All-Mother release what appears to be the old Loki from the jar. Loki's next missions involve capturing people missing from Asgard currently, including Lorelei (a former lover) and Sigurd, the original wielder of Gram. During the capture of Lorelei, he is intrigued to meet a woman named Verity Willis, who is apparently capable of seeing through any lie. Loki lets Lorelei go, opting to tell the All-Mothers he failed to catch her, but sends Sigurd to the dungeons of Asgard. During his capture of Sigurd, the demon Mephisto discovers Loki's secret, that he is still the old Loki. Meanwhile, the old Loki travels back in time, and it's revealed he arranged for Gram to be placed where it was, part of some scheme. Loki then breaks into Asgard's dungeon with the help of Lorelei, Thor and Verity, ostensibly to release Sigurd, although it's quickly revealed that was only half the scheme. He discovers the cell the old Loki is kept in, and stabs him with Gram. Unable to lie, the older Loki laughs maniacally, and reveals he is, in fact, Loki's worst fear; he is the future Loki, not the past. Unable to deal with this revelation that he is, in fact, all but doomed, Loki is then crushed by the reveal the All-Mother are working with his future self. Asked why, his foster-mother Frigga calmly states that Asgard would rather return to the days of knowing exactly what the future holds. Loki quits as the agent of Asgard, leaving his future self in the role: his older self hints that very soon teen Loki will have his own problems to deal with, as buried secrets come to light. As one of the many side effects of the Watcher's death, Thor is shown a secret; he has a sister. Although thought killed in a long-forgotten war, she still survives. After being rebuffed by the All-Mothers, Thor seeks out Loki to help him track down his sister. Loki finds a way to force open a path into the long-sealed Tenth Realm, Heven. Loki's older self, watching, decides to meddle; he tells Angela, a lost member of the host of Heven, that a way home is open, even though in his own timeline Angela was not present. Thor introduces himself to the angels, and immediately starts a fight; the war, long forgotten in Asgard, is still constantly kept fresh in Heven. Loki sneaks off and speaks to the Queen of Heven over tea and cakes, while Angela fights Thor. Thor is defeated, and wakes up to find Loki has, apparently, changed sides. In return for the title of Mistress of Strategies and a new home, Loki agrees to invade Asgard for Heven. Taking an angelic fleet, she goes to Asgard and destroys the shield around the mostly empty realm, betraying the angels and destroying them all in the process. Loki finds Odin, until now hidden in Asgard, and convinces him to return and put an end to the war. Meanwhile, Thor escapes his bonds and has a rematch with Angela, which is cut short by Odin recognising Angela as his long-thought-dead daughter. Angela is then spurned by Heven, and Odin, Thor and Loki leave, although not before Loki offers Angela some words of sympathy and calls her sister. She also tries to comfort Thor, who is worried about mistakes made, and Odin admits that he is fond of all his children, Loki included. Meanwhile, King Loki is furious; with the war averted, and words of affection that were never said to his past self, his plans are starting to go badly awry. (Original Sin: Thor and Loki 5.1-5.5)

Loki's canon point

Doom, having gone forward in time to see the effects of his own actions on the future, instead found a dead wasteland ruled by King Loki, and formulated a plan to capture Loki in a box of nullified time. He kidnapped Loki, but inadvertently also brought Verity, who was invisible at the time. Doom's gloating was interrupted by a psychic attack from Red Skull, who was broadcasting a world-wide hate wave by way of Professor Xavier's brain. In order to combat it, Verity persuaded Valeria to release Loki from the frozen time to gain access to Gram. Using an amplifier, the three of them managed to combat the hate wave with the truth. Part of the backlash left Loki unable to lie, however. (Agent of Asgard 6-7)

Due to a miscast spell, meant to invert the personality of Red Skull, a number of characters found their alignments changed. Loki and Thor switched over: Loki became the god of heroism, and Thor became the god of evil. Loki joined the temporary Avengers Steve Rogers set up, mostly consisting of alignment-flipped villains, and helped to thwart the real Avengers who had become villains. In the process, he started a relationship with Lorelei and caused Amora and Sigurd's doom. Eventually, luring Thor to the moon, Loki managed to pck up Mjolnir, finally worthy of it... just as the original spell was cancelled. Thor, remembering none of the events, refused to believe Loki had managed to wield Molnir at all, and Loki was left in despair. (Axis 1-9, Agent of Asgard 8-9)

When Thor came to apologise to Loki for some of the things he'd said during the course of Axis, he asked Loki the wrong question, and Loki, still unable to lie... answered with the truth. Thor, learning of Kid Loki's death at the hands of this Loki, flew into a rage. Loki made little attempt to defend himself, trying instead to plead with his brother, but was dragged to Asgard and the truth revealed to everyone.
